George Nasmyth, 1806-c60s, was a mechanical engineer who was in partnership, initially at Edinburgh, with his brother, James, from 1834 to 1843. Together in 1836 they formed Bridgewater Foundry at Patricroft. Left this in c1843 when moved to London to set up in practice as a consulting mechanical engineer and 'agent for machinery'. Retired 1856
