From 1950s manufacture of isotopes became of major importance. 1954 the radiochemical plant included within the newly formed United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority until 1971 when stood alone as Radiochemical Centre Ltd to focus on isotopes. Grove retired 1979. Renamed Amersham International Ltd in 1981 and privatised in 1982. 1997 merged with Nycomed of Norway to form Nycomed Amersham Plc.
