Traced origins to William Briggs, b1861, who in 1886 established in London International Correspondence College, later renamed University Correspondence College. 1887 relocated to Cambridge where operated through University Tutorial College. Diversified into related areas such as bookselling and, especially, educational textbook printing and publishing. Relocated printing operations to Foxton in c1908 and these developed as Burlington Press Ltd. 1974 sold by Briggs family to Instantprint Ltd
