Traced origins to c1910 and formation of Kjellberg Electric Welding Syndicate, London, to acquire various rights of the Swede, Oscar Kjellberg, a pioneer in welding technology. It represented the introduction of welding into the UK. In 1912 syndicate members formed Anglo Swedish Electric Welding Co Ltd based at Greenwich. Initially involved in repair work especially to boilers. Soon used in shipbuilding. Business developed a fleet of mobile welding units to provide a service nationwide. From 1950s grew also by acquisition.
