Robert Tertius Campbell, c1811-1887, Australian merchant connected with gold trading, acquired in 1859 the Buscot Park estate in Oxfordshire, where he introduced sugar beet production and a distillery [Berkshire Distillery], 1869-79, to distill from it alcohol; six mile narrow gauge railway; artificial fertilizer plant; steam engines; telegraph system; etc. In financial difficulties at time of his death. 1889 estate sold to Alexander Henderson, 1st Lord Faringdon [2023]
