Henry Brown, 1796-1860, was son of William, a Galashiels woollen manufacturer from the very early 19th century. With his brother James, d1859, moved to Selkirk in 1835 to establish a major tweed manufacturing business at Ettrick Mills. By 1850s a leading Scottish tweed manufacturing business. c1859 James's sons reestablished a manufacturing presence at Galashiels
