Traced origins to the Cambridgeshire Tuberculosis Colony established at Papworth Hall in 1918 where workshops were provided for occupation of patients. Activities initially included cabinet making and footwear repair but, soon after, leather trunk and travel goods making, printing, binding, etc, were added. In 1960s activities included fire engine production, notably 'Green Goddesses'. Travel goods production, initially under James A Box, d1926, flourished, receiving a royal warrant in 1920s. By 1937 producing 37,000 items annually. Activities sometime organised into Papworth Industries. This flourished until being broken up and sold in 1990s by its owning trust. Travels goods was sold to Swaine Adney Brigg in 1996
