Notes:

Traces origins to 1886 when established by John Brockhouse, 1844-1922, as a forge making springs and soon after axles and fittings for coaches and carts. 1897 relocated to Victoria Works. Incorporated 1898 after which expanded rapidly in particular through many acquisition of other spring and axle makers. Diversified into other areas such as bicycles (briefly before 1914), springs, axles, and other motor vehicle components, machine tools, motorcycle assembly, tractor making, hollow ware, hand tools, building sections, corrugated steel, etc, etc. Acquired numerous other businesses especially after 1918. Continues as a manufacturer of steel forged components for a wide range of applications
