Established in 1886 by Albert Wallington and William G T Weston as Wallington Weston & Co, india rubber products manufacturers at Limpley Stoke. Both were chemists who had formerly worked for Dunlop Rubber Co Ltd and Avon Rubber Co Ltd respectively. Made, inter alia, rubber tyres for carts, etc; bicycles; etc. c1902 relocated to Frome. Incorporated 1912. By 1914-18 leading manufacturers but in decline between wars. 1940 acquired by Dawnay Day & Co and revived. 1939-45 in particular made synthetic rubber seals for aircraft. 1944 established Frome Plastics Ltd which post war made PVC sheeting and other plastic products including sports balls, hoses, etc. 1956 acquired by Marley Tile Co Ltd and started to make flooring materials. 1983 merged with Hyde Products Ltd, a Manchester based subsidiary of ICI Ltd as Weston Hyde Products Ltd.
