Louis P Brennan, 1852-1932, was a consulting mechanical engineer who in 1880s perfected his invention of the torpedo, the rights to which he sold to the British government and subsequently managed their manufacturing plant at Gillingham, Kent. Sometime operated Brennan Torpedo Co. Subsequently developed early monorail system and, later, involved in munitions and aircraft development, especially helicopters, at Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough
