Notes:

Traces origins to 1971 when established to acquire certain activities from the UK Atomic Energy Authority. Subsequently developed a wide range of activities in support of the UK publicly owned nuclear power generating industry - nuclear fuel production and storage, management of spent fuel, decommissioning of obsolete generating stations, etc. Reorganised 1984 as British Nuclear Fuels Plc, wholly owned by British government. 1998 acquired publicly owned ageing Magnox generating stations for management and eventual decommission. From 2005 disposed of its assets and activities either by sale or transfer to other publicly owned bodies. Continues in existence only to manage various remaining liabilities
