Traced origins to the business of McBirney & Co established c1857 by J C Bloomfield, R W Armstrong and David McBirney. Attracted employees from William Henry Goss in early 1860s. Focused on fine porcelain for which developed an international reputation. On death of founders acquired by Belleek Pottery Works Ltd, a consortium of local businessmen. 1918 collapsed and in 1919 acquired by Belleek Pottery Ltd. Made earthenware between wars. 1947 abandoned earthenware products to focus on fine porcelain. Subsequently changes in ownership and acquisitions. Continues
