George Price was an innovative Wolverhampton safe and lock maker. Arrived at Wolverhampton in the early 1840s and set up as an auctioneer and insurance appraiser. The latter led him into security products. By 1850s manufacturing safes that were fire and theft resistant and was recognised as a technical leader in competition with Milne and Chubb. By late 1850s had established Cleveland Safe & Lock Works. By 1870s the business was in decline and in c1906 was acquired by James Gibbons Ltd of Wolverhampton
