Traced origins to Edward Box, d1925, who traded as Edward Box & Co from c1885. Also had an interest in a brickyard. initially operated traction engines. Joined briefly by his son, Norman, who then left to establish Norman E Box & Co which emerged as leading (very) heavy hauliers. On Edward's death, his business was acquired by Marston Road Services Ltd. Norman E Box & Co Ltd continued to 1930 when sold to Pickfords. Its connections included Box Grouting & Spraying Co Ltd, established 1923, of Manchester, and Box Cultivating Co Ltd, established 1936
