Subsequently acquired a range of specialist engineering businesses to confirm TI as leading UK engineering business. These included Raleigh Industries Ltd, cycle manufacturers, Alfred Herbert Ltd, machine tool makers, and Dowty Group, aerospace and motor components manufacturer. 2000 merged with Smiths Group (formerly Smiths Industries Ltd) when known as TI Group Plc
