Traced origins to Robert Fead Moseley, 1841-1921, who established himself as a scissor and cutlery manufacturer at Sheffield in early 1860s. Business expanded and by 1883 also a silversmith. Came to specialise in cased cutlery goods. 1879 moved to purpose built Portland Works. Business incorporated before 1900. Around 1900 became associated with Alexander Clark [later Alexander Clark Manufacturing Co Ltd] which was established in 1891 as a silversmith, cutlery, etc, business in central London. Moseley emerged as a major supplier to this important business in which he had a substantial interest. Shortly before 1914 became first manufacturer of stainless steel knives following Harry Brearley's invention of stainless steel. Business in decline from 1945 and closed in about 1960s
