Acquired other steam wagon businesses after 1918. 1929 stopped making steam wagons and, when in difficulties, acquired by W G Allen in 1933 and revived as Atkinson Lorries (1933) Ltd, later known as Atkinson Lorries (Holdings) Ltd. Emerged as an important lorry manufacturer and after 1945 also produced buses. Acquired in 1970 by Seddon Diesel Vehicles Ltd of Oldham to form Seddon Atkinson Vehicles Ltd. 1974 Seddon Atkinson was acquired by International Harvester Co of Great Britain Ltd and later by Enasa and subsequently by IVECO
