Notes:

Mining for primarily for lead but also silver and zinc began in about the 1780s. Kirk Lonan Mining Association was formed in 1822 to work the Great Laxey Mine. Reformed as Great Laxey Mining Co in 1849 and became Great Laxey Mining Co Ltd in 1862. Emerged as a major UK producer. In decline by late 19th century. Restructured in 1902 as Great Laxey Ltd which closed 1920. Mining continued until c1930. The mine was noted for its very large water wheel constructed in the 1850s for drainage purposes
