Henric Kalmeter, 1693-1750, was a Swedish mining engineer who travelled in Scotland and England, 1719-21, and England again, 1723-25. On his travels he noted in his journal (6 vols) his thoughts and observation on mines and manufactories. He visited, inter alia, Leith re soap production, sugar production and salt production; Bristol re brass founding; Leadhills re lead mining; Scotland re steam engines; South West re woollen industry. In particular he made an extended trip to South West England, 1724-25
