Established c1915 to build houses for workers and their families at the recently opened Rosyth Royal Naval Dockyard. Shareholders comprised largely Dumferline Corporation but also private investors. Funded also by government loans. Construction started 1915 and by 1918 1,600 houses had been built (by Holloway Brothers Ltd, London). Additional building resumed in 1939-45. SNHC eventually became Scottish Special Housing Association
