Traced origins to 1797 when established by Robert Wormersley, 1743-1821, a Quaker. Initially a grocer at Sheffield and later a linen draper at Westminster when he opened a dyehouse at Stockwell. By 1800 described as drysalters at Whitechapel. 1815 opened an acid factory at Bow. 1824 described as acqua fortis manufacturers. c1840s renamed Robert Wormersley & Son. Continuing in 1950s when known as drysalters .
