Traces origins to late 1890s when William Bean, d1929, established small amusement parks at Blackpool and Great Yarmouth, the latter being short lived. In 1903 joined with John Outhwaite to extend substantially the Blackpool park, thereby mimicking Coney Island, New York. Established several vehicles including in 1910 Blackpool Pleasure Beach Ltd. Business continued by Bean's son in law and continues in his (Thompson) family
