Traced origins to 1838 when established by George Jennings, 1810-82, as sanitary engineers at Lambeth. Emerged as leading designers, manufacturers and installers of toilets and other sanitary equipment. Specialised in particular in underground public conveniences. Worked for railway companies, municipalities, etc, and exported widely. Established in c1850s pottery for manufacture of sanitary goods, especially pipes, at Parkstone, Dorset, known as South Western Pottery & Terra Cotta Works. Also made fittings, including valves, from gutta percha at Birmingham by 1880s. Sometime also had works at Blackfriars and subsequently relocated some activities to Stangate. Closed 1967
