Established in Halifax by William Edwards, 1721-1818, in c1755 as bookbinders. Developed as publishers, bookbinders and antiquarian booksellers in which trades they became leaders. By 1784 had a London branch in Pall Mall. World famous for quality of bindings. William succeeded by his sons, James, 1857-1816, and Richard, 1768-1827. Closed c1826
