Traced origins to the business of Charles Jack, zinc manufacturer, established in Tottenham Court Road, London, in 1839. 1854 acquired by Frederick Braby. Early 1860s based at Fitzroy Zinc & Galvanised Iron Works, Euston Road, London, where made wide range of zinc and galvanised products including tubes, pipes, gutters, cowls, sheets, strainers, ridges, friezes, skylights, etc. Incorporated 1865. Diversified into manufacture of wire netting. 1866 opened new works at Deptford followed by branches and works at several other UK locations. After 1945 output focused at Crayford, later Uxbridge, when in particular made metal containers and other metal structures. 1959 renamed Braby Group Ltd and in 1970 acquired by Economic Group Ltd, gas appliance manufacturers
