Notes:

Traces origins to John Stevens, 1807-86, who by 1847 was making fertiliser from bones near the Limehouse Canal, London. From c1860 traded as Stevens Son & Co. 1882 acquired Queenborough Chemical & Copperas Works, Kent, which then made sulphuric acid and extended its output to include fertilsers, glue, tallow, etc. 1889 incorporated as Sheppy Glue & Chemical Works Ltd. 1939-45 associated with government owned Fabon Ltd. Post 1945 focused on production of granular fertilisers and modern industrial adhesives. Around 2000 disposed of traditional activities to focus on property development and management
