Benjamin (Ben) Boyd, 1801-51, was a London stockbroker from 1825 who soon developed interests in joint stock companies. From 1840s relocated to Australia where he established large landholdings and agricultural and financial interests, especially Royal Bank of Australia. Acted with his brothers and operated there via Boyd Brothers at Boydtown. By mid 1840s in difficulties and business interests wound down
