Traced origins to Roger Notcutt, 1869-1938, who established a nursery at Ipswich which expanded rapidly. 1897 acquired the Wood's family nursery, dating to c1749, at Woodbridge. Supplied great houses with wide range of vegetable, fruit and fowering plants and shrubs. After 1938 traded as Executors of R C Notcutt before incorporating as Notcutt Ltd in 1946. Retailed from 1913. Started garden centres in 1970s. 2007 sold by Notcutt family to management. Continues as a leading nusery and garden centre business
