Traced origins to 1887 when established by Thomas Eli Haywood. Developed as a railway signalling equipment manufacturer, later diversifying wrought iron goods production, motor vehicle repairs and petrol sales. Also made ship signalling equipment especially for Royal Navy. Moved to Falcon Works in 1929. Incorporated c1949. Business sold by Haywood family in 1963 to Smiths Industries Ltd and closed 1968
